I'm inclined to think 8.0.
* glibc is 2.2.90 (2.3 beta) instead of 2.2.x for low values of x
* gcc is 3.2 instead of 2.96, which will break binary
compatibility for all C++ code
* perl is 5.8.0 instead of 5.6.x, which will likely break
compatibility with something
* rpm is 4.1 instead of 4.0.x, although they provide a
librpm404 package (so maybe the database format hasn't changed),
although...
* Berkely DB is version 4.0.x instead of 3.0.x, which may or may
not be backwards-compatible
I could probably go on, but that's enough...
