vnc

redhat 7.3 beta 2

i have tightvnc installed, trying to vnc into the server

i run /etc/init.d/vncserver start

it tells me its starting the vnc server

then i do /etc/init.d/vncserver status

it tells me that Xvnc isnt running

from /var/log/messages
Apr 26 14:10:39 <my hostname> vncserver: vncserver startup succeeded
Apr 26 14:11:15 <my hostname> vncserver: vncserver startup succeeded


im doing all this as root, my normal user account doesnt have permission to
create the lockfile

any ideas?
