F15 will bring new network port device names



For many years Dell's Matt Domsch has been a familiar name to Red Hat
and Fedora users. He developed most of the architectural foundations of
SCSI-based mass storage that replaced a hodge-podge of /dev/hdX and
other mnemonic device names with a far more rational system of /dev/sdX
'storage devices'.

Lately Matt has turned his attention to a similar chaos: the anarchy of
network port device naming. Fedora 15 will be the first Linux
distribution to implement his new network port device naming system. For
