Not on x86_64.  The whole multilib thing (being able to install i386
and x86_64 packages with the same NEVR at the same time) isn't
something apt can handle internally.

The people at Conectiva who were working on apt-rpm now have a package
manager called smart that looks interesting.  I might have to try it
out some time.  In the mean time though, I'm stuck using yum on the
x86_64 boxes.
