Don't take anything I say to seriously for it may be the bane of your
existence... ;)
Knoppix uses the arts sound server, I personally hate it.
But what you need to do, probably, is to set arts to turn off after a
certain amount of time. And turn off all startup notification for gnome
meeting, because arts will take control of your sound device ( /dev/dsp
; /dev/sound/dsp ) and not let go...
Its very unkind about this. If all else fails, you should be able to
kill arts all together with
#kill all artsd ( something along these lines )
and start it again when you want kde sounds.
And make sure when you setup gnome meeting you tell it to use the ALSA
or OSS mixers.
You may have to apt-get alsa-utils ( may be called alsa-util ) along
with possibly alsa-base, etc.
But hopefully just keeping arts from interfering will be all you need. :)
Sorry if you aren't using KDE ands arts isn't the problem, I am assuming
quite a bit. :)
