That Microsoft is directly addressing Linux strongly suggests that
Linux is on-par with Windows. While most of the people on this list
already know that, many others don't. I would like to believe that
this PR stunt by MS will actually open more people's eyes to Linux.

In the same vein, Microsoft has published this about OpenOffice.org:

My thoughts are that Microsoft has gone through considerable time and
effort to point out that OpenOffice.org may not suite people's business
needs. Are they right? Only the people in the business can be the
judge of what is right for the business. To test-drive the latest
version of OpenOffice.org for Windows, they can download a
self-extracting archive:

   http://cwelug.org/~rwcitek/openoffice/OOo_1.1.1_Win32Intel_install.exe

or if they have a BitTorrent client:

http://cwelug.org/~rwcitek/openoffice/
OOo_1.1.1_Win32Intel_install.exe.torrent

Just download, click, and install.
