You'll find that a Crossover (or WINE for that matter) on a "bare" system
without access to a "real" Windows install to be quite a bit "rougher" than with.

The reason is that WINE and Crossover and WineX will all "prefer" to use native
DLLs *when available*. Duh. The thing is, not a whole lot WINE developers use
"bare" systems like you have. Almost all WINE/Xover/WineX users run them on
systems where any program can "find" the "real" DLLs.

You'll find missing pieces of various applications because they "come with"
Windows. Things like DCOM. COM+. Various ODBC drivers. Components and controls
that programs access, but don't exist in a "bare" system like you have.

What I've found is that most applications get weird GUI things like the
drop-down menu controls and such don't render properly sometimes or not at all.
Not all of the Windows GUI widget code has been implemented it seems. But on a
system where it can find the "real" DLLs, everything looks and works fine.

So, be aware that claims of "works under Crossover" might only be in relation to
an installation with a real Windows partition/installation to "help" things along.

Oh, and glad to hear the Xandros install went without a hitch.

Poke around the XandrosKwikis at http://www.archlug.org/kwiki/XandrosKwikis

Under the hood, Xandros is basically Debian, but you can't just point it at a
Debian sarge/testing repository and upgrade everything. You'll want to pin your
apt preferences and selectively enable/disable sources if you do that. But you
should definately enable the "Debian unsupported site" in Xandros Networks to
get lots more applications to choose from -- namely libdvdread3. :=)
