OK, so that's not completely true...  It looks like it doesn't touch
your existing sources.list until you run the mirror selector, so if
you just disable it everything should be OK (assuming you didn't have
anything interesting changed in apt.conf).

cat > /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/mirror-select-disable.conf <<END
Apt::State::FirstRun "false";
END

Not that I'm encouraging anyone to do that...
