A CD-RW doesn't need to be treated differently then a CD-ROM.  Unless
you want to use it to burn stuff.  In a pre 2.6 kernel, in order to burn
a CD under linux, you needed to use SCSI emulation (because cdrecord
doesn't/didn't support IDE burners).  In the 2.6 kernel and new
cdrecord, it actually supports ide burners, so in the future that won't
be necessary.  Hope that makes some sense.
