Steve,

As long as you haven't altered anything inside that mbox file, you can:

1. Create a temporary recipes folder in evolution:
   (a) Right click on 'Local Folders'
   (b) Click on 'New Folder...'
       (1) Type 'recipes' in folder name
       (2) The folder type should be 'Mail'
       (3) Create this folder under 'Local Folders'
       (4) Click on [OK]
2. Quit evolution
3. Copy the saved mbox text file into the ~/evolution/recipes/
directory.
4. chown steve:steve mbox
5. chmod 600 mbox
6. Restart evolution

All your old e-mails should now be in that new 'recipes' folder. You can
transfer them to any new or old folder you wish.
