And that's why trojan horses plague Windows software for years, but
anyone who tries to do the same in the Linux world is caught within
hours.

Digital signatures and dependencies _are_ a pain.  But there are very
damn good reasons for them, so they are used.

It's a trade-off.

P.S.  My Middle School's Windows Services went down today (various
reasons, virus and Exchange related).  As such, my Linux system was the
only box in the school that had working services (file, print, etc...). 
I also offered it as a network analyzer to the IT department.
