Internet strike called for the 17th and 23rd

On September 24th, the European Parliament is going to vote on a proposal for a
software patent directive. The proposed revision contains a set of serious
challenges to Free/Open Source development since regulation regarding software
patents will be broadly extended and might forbit independent development of
innovative (Free/Open Source and not) software-based solutions.

A fresh wave of protests are scheduled throughout the month including a
conference in Brussels on Wednesday September 17th, a rally in Strasbourg on
Tuesday September 23rd, as well as a series of satalite demos in other cities
throughout Europe. These actions will be accompanied by an Internet strike on
the 17th and 23rd.

Don't let US-style IP laws (one-click patent anyone?) spread like cancer to the
rest of the
world.
