that's where I ended up... Just a nasty habit of turning to TLDP for linux
hardware questions before being googled with google.

Anyone find 3 port firewire adapters cheaper than $15.00 ??  I'm thinking
not.  Now to just find an ide firewire enclosure being sold by a reputable
place for a reasonable price.  :/

Oh yeah, I'm totally going to get my ipod talking to my linux box.
