Re: New install of rh 7.3

Tighe

What I have done in the past when dual booting with win2k is to install RH
and not write lilo or grub to the mbr. Make a boot disk so I can boot into
linux. Then boot into linux and edit the lilo.conf file. This only
involves changing the boot partition to the correct one. hdb6 in this case
of /boot. Then I enter lilo at /sbin to install lilo on the mbr. Then I
mount a dos floppy and do
"dd if=/dev/hda6 bs=512 count =1 of=/mnt/floppy/linux.bin" .  Then I boot
into win2k and copy the "linux.bin" file onto the win2k drive. Then I open
the boot.ini file in a editor and add the line "C:linux.bin="Redhat 7.3""
Then I you can use the win2k boot loader to start linux.

This may not be the only way but it has worked ok for me. But with 7.3
lilo.conf seems to be gone or i can not find it. I did a locate from root
and it does not show up. So I'm lost?

Hope this explains better what i'm trying to do.

Thanks
David if==512 count=1 of=/floppy/linux.bin
