The only thing i can think of is that you are running X and it's using
different terminals (tty's) for your console and X session and when you open
an xterm it pops open anouther terminal, i'm not real sure on this but if
you see yourself on multiple tty's and none of them are pts's then i
wouldn't worry to much about it, as for the 3 and 2 thing maybe you have a
service running as a user and the user isn't using a tty so it doesn't
return the details on tty etc., thats just an educated (mildly) guess
